The Elementary School program at Kell Grade School (Grades Kindergarten through 4th Grade) focuses on cultivating core academic competencies, social-emotional growth, and a foundational love of learning. In these critical early and intermediate years, our educators emphasize balanced literacy, mathematical reasoning, hands-on scientific discovery, and social community. By providing highly individualized attention in small classrooms, we ensure that every child builds the fundamental reading comprehension, mathematical confidence, and cooperative study habits required to transition seamlessly into middle School.
Our Kindergarten classroom introduces students to the exciting world of structured learning with an emphasis on foundational reading, writing, and mathematical concepts. We balance active, hands-on exploration with academic routines, fostering curiosity, social collaboration, and fine motor skills as students begin their journey through the primary grades.
The Kell Grade School ELA program builds strong reading, writing, and communication skills. Grades 1-2 focus on phonics, phonemic awareness, and spelling, while grades 3-4 shift to vocabulary, reading comprehension, and structured writing. We foster an environment that encourages a lifelong love of reading.
Our math curriculum develops foundational number sense, logical reasoning, and real-world problem-solving skills. The Middle School at Kell Grade School provides a departmentalized, academically challenging environment designed to transition 5th through 8th-grade students seamlessly into high school. We emphasize critical thinking, personal accountability, and advanced problem-solving across English Language Arts, Mathematics, Social Studies, and Science. By balancing rigorous academic expectations with leadership opportunities and extracurricular activities, we encourage our middle school students to develop the self-discipline, civic-mindedness, and study habits necessary to succeed as confident young citizens.
The Middle School English Language Arts (ELA) program focuses on developing advanced reading, writing, speaking, and analytical skills. Students engage with diverse genres of classic and contemporary literature, compose structured argumentative and expository essays, and refine their grammar and vocabulary to communicate articulately and think critically about the texts they read.
Our Middle School Mathematics curriculum is designed to build a strong analytical foundation, transitioning students seamlessly from basic operations to abstract algebraic reasoning. Through rigorous problem-solving in pre-algebra, geometry, and data analysis, we prepare students to confidently navigate high school mathematics.
Middle School Science at Kell Grade School encourages hands-on exploration and scientific inquiry across earth, life, and physical sciences. Students use the scientific method to design experiments, analyze data, and understand the technological and environmental factors shaping our physical world.
The Special Education program at Kell Grade School is dedicated to providing individualized instruction, accommodations, and resources that ensure all students have equitable access to academic success. We partner closely with families, general educators, and specialists to implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and 504 plans in a supportive, inclusive, and empowering classroom environment.
Our Title I program provides targeted, small-group intervention and academic support in reading and mathematics. By working alongside classroom teachers, our Title I educators help students close achievement gaps, master core standards, and build the confidence necessary to succeed in their daily classroom routines.
